Crank the Volume down!

Many teenagers listen to heavy-metal or thrash-metal songs on their ipods or MP3 players cranking the volume to maybe 90% or even 100% of the total volume. While this maybe enjoyable, this causes real harm to the ears. Listening to music really loud using head-phones and ear-phones can really damage your ears. An average human ear can tolerate about 50dB, but head-phones sometimes come out at 80dB or 90dB. So, you can see that it goes beyond the tolerable range and naturally, cause damage. Scientists have also proved that a person who regularly listens to music through head-phones have at least a thousand more bacteria than the average human. While most of these bacteria are not harmful, some such as Staphylococcus can cause ear-aches. Some teenagers who regularly listen to music need hearing aid while a lot of men in their 80s can hear really well. The only cause for this is the listening of music with the volume up! A recent science test has approved that:

Why a music CD or album costs so much?

A newly released music CD or album consisting of 11 songs costs about $11.99 on average, about $1 on each song. Is that too much to pay for a song? Not every song in an album is very good compared to others, but all the songs cost the same. The average price of an album on iTunes (www.itunes.com) is $11.99. For some people, this may not be a very pricey thing. But, for many people around the world, especially people not living in the USA or Europe region, this is not cheap. It is very hard to buy albums for their cost, as a result of which people now download pirated songs from many sites on the internet. The artist or the band do not receive any payment for the download and this is strictly illegal. But, 1 USD is about 50 Indian Rupees. So, if an album costs about $12, then it costs about 600 Rupees. That's a lot to pay for a album!

Nickelback's latest release - 'Here and Now'

Nickelback is a famous Canadian hard rock band. Since starting in 1995, they attained world fame with some hit songs like Far Away, Rockstar, Burn It To The Ground and others. Their latest album "Here And Now" was released this November 21st. Critics claimed that, "The Canadian troupe may have grown musically, but they didn't grow in their latest album." Is this true? Well, to be exact, there's two groups. One that favors Nickelback and one that doesn't. But, according Billboard.com, this album is a positive and may even hit #1 or #2 on the Billboard chart. A track to track review of their album can be found on Billboard.com. But, to be more precise, here's my review of the album and how I felt about it:

1. This Means War: BANG! The album starts off with a metal song with lots of anger and intensity. Loud metallic distorted guitars really gets the blood flowing through your veins. But, maybe not the best song to start off with.
2. Bottoms Up: A good drumming upbeat into a groovy guitar intro. A good song to for bars and nightclubs, drinking and stuff like that.

Rock Bands definitely worth checking out!

Music is a stress-reliever for some and for others, a passion, a way of life. For the people who fall in the latter group, the genre Rock is widely familiar. High-scaled songs with heavy drumming and electric guitars throttling at full power (well maybe not FULL power) normally defines a rock song in my opinion. This genre started in the early 1940s and 1950s. But, rock music in the 50s is a whole lot different from the rock songs we listen to today. The great bands like The Beatles no longer exist, well, they only exist in our hearts and on records. But, do not fret! Some great modern rock bands do exist and might be worth checking out:
1.Linkin Park: Linkin Park is a rock, nu-metal band from California, USA. While some of their songs are nu-metal, most are rock, alternative rock and hard rock. They are the most searched-for band on Youtube. Some of their great hits include Numb, What I've Done, In The End, Points Of Authority, From The Inside and The Catalyst. You guys can check out their latest album titled 'A Thousand Suns' on iTunes or anywhere you find.

2. Seether: Seether is a post grunge, alternative rock band from South Africa. The band was formed in 1999 and formerly known as Saron Gas. They changed their name to Seether in 2002 with the releasing of their album Disclaimer. They mostly do rock songs and post grunge songs. Their hits include Country Song, Broken, Tied My Hands, I'm The One and so on. They released their latest album 'Holding onto strings better left to fray' was released in late 2011. So, you guys can check that out as well.

Living without music...

Just take a minute and think, Can you really live without music? We listen to music every second of our life. Almost everything we do makes music. Have you ever heard the steady splatter of rainfall? If you listen closely, you will see that they too create a type of music. The world without music is like a beehive without bees. Try to imagine a world without music. Can you? How does that world look? More importantly, how does that world sound? No one in this world lives without music. So far the world I've seen, revolves around music. So, I think now, you can easily answer the question I asked you, Can you really live without music?
