Jeff Killed John was initially formed by Matt, Padget, Thomas and Nick Crandle, who played bass. In 2002, the band released a two-track EP, You/Play With Me, produced by Greg Haver. On the initial recording sessions of You/Play With Me, Nick Cradle left the band. He was replaced by a new bassist Jason James.
